Ataraxia

Ataraxia: (at-uh-rak-see-uh)
:- A state of freedom from the disturbance of Mind.
When I first read this word, the meaning, kind of hit me like a boulder. It spurred a session of soliloquy during which the question popped up again and again in my mind, “Is it really possible to attain this so called state of completely unperturbed mind?” I guess the question might seem a very quintessential one, which every other person asks himself or herself, but the interesting thing would be, to know if any one has found an answer to it or even come close to an answer. Yogis and sadhus have spent their entire life time trying to find an answer for the same and we could say many have even been successful in reaching this seemingly impossible goal. One of the first names that come to mind is Ramakrishna Paramahansa and his favorite disciple Swami Vivekananda.
It would be a very challenging and difficult goal to achieve, but none the less one which we can always aspire for. So lets try and live in the state of ATARAXIA.

Vivekananda experienced misery many times and blamed "Karma" (fruits of past birth) for his State. www.vivekanandayb.blogspot.com
The nature of Stitapragna explained in Bhagavad Gita is a State of freedom from happiness and misery. It is nothing but a State of Stoic unconcernedness.
